Motorcycle Tire Fitting and Balancing in Tbilisi
Motorcycle tire work is not car tire work: different machine, different torque, and alloy rims that one clumsy lever ruins. We fit motorcycle tires on equipment made for two-wheelers — and if you are mid-tour, we try to get you rolling the same day.
What we do
- Mounting and removal — with rim protectors, no gouged wheels
- Balancing — on a motorcycle wheel balancer
- Puncture repair — proper internal patch or plug for tubeless tires
- Tube replacement — for spoked enduro and classic wheels, rim locks included
- Valve replacement — recommended with every new tire
- Wheel bearing check — the wheel is already off, so we look for free play at no charge
When a tire needs replacing
| Sign | What it means |
|---|---|
| Tread below 1.6 mm (worn to the TWI marker) | Replace now — the tire no longer works on wet roads |
| Squared-off profile in the centre | Typical city-mileage wear; behaviour in corners gets worse |
| Cracks in the sidewall | Rubber has aged and no longer holds pressure reliably |
| Over 5–6 years old by the DOT code | Rubber loses grip regardless of tread depth |
| Already patched in two or more places | Patches are a stopgap; a new tire is the safe answer |
Sourcing tires for your bike
We order tires to your model: Michelin, Pirelli, Metzeler, Continental — road, touring and off-road patterns. Send the model or a photo of the marking on your old tire (how to read it is explained on the parts page). Ordering front and rear together is usually cheaper, and fitting is discounted on tires bought from us.
Pressure — the free advice that doubles tire life
Half of all motorcycle tires die early from wrong pressure. Check it cold at least once a week and use the manufacturer's figure from the chain guard sticker or the manual, not a guess. Low pressure overheats the sidewalls and eats fuel; high pressure wears the centre strip and costs you grip exactly where you need it.
Riding through Georgia?
Touring riders hit two things here: gravel detours on mountain roads and long hot tarmac on the way to the coast. Both punish worn tires. If you are passing through Tbilisi and your tread is marginal, it is far cheaper to change here than to discover the problem on a wet descent from Gudauri. Email your route dates and tire size ahead — we can have the rubber waiting.
Frequent questions
Can I bring my own tires?
Yes, we will fit them. We check the age and condition first and tell you if something looks wrong.
I already removed the wheel — do you take it like that?
Yes, a loose wheel is faster to do and cheaper for you.
I got a puncture on the road, what now?
If it is tubeless and the hole is in the tread, a plug will get you to us. Sidewall damage is not rideable — call our towing service.
Do you work on spoked enduro wheels?
Yes: tube replacement, fitting, and rim locks for low-pressure off-road setups.
