When a bike behaves "somehow wrong", guessing gets expensive. Diagnostics is its own job here: we establish the cause first, tell you what fixing it costs, and only then start any repair.

What the check covers
Computer diagnostics
On fuel-injected bikes we connect to the diagnostic port, read fault codes and watch live sensor data. A code is never the answer by itself — it points at a direction, which we then verify mechanically.
Mechanical diagnostics
Compression test, spark plug reading, fuel delivery check, hunting for leaks, and checking suspension linkages and bearings with the bike on a stand.
Electrical diagnostics
Charging circuit (stator, regulator-rectifier), starter, battery under load, wiring continuity. On older bikes half of all faults live in corroded connectors rather than in expensive components.
Pre-purchase inspection
Buying used? Bring the bike before you hand over money. We check compression, electrics and running gear, then tell you what the discovered problems will cost to fix — which is useful leverage when agreeing the price.
Broken down mid-tour?
If you are riding through Georgia and something went wrong, say so in your first email: we prioritise travellers whose schedule depends on the bike. Where possible we split the work — get you rolling now, note what can wait until you are home. If the bike cannot reach us, our 24/7 towing service brings it in, and diagnostics starts the same day.
How it works
- Describe the symptom in your email — the more specific ("dies at idle when hot"), the better.
- Diagnostics usually takes 1–2 hours; complicated cases take longer and we say so up front.
- You get a verdict: what is broken, what the repair costs, what can safely wait.
- If we do the repair, the diagnostics fee counts towards the job.

The price list goes up when we open. The rule: you know the price before we start, and it counts towards the repair if we do the work.
Do you diagnose carburettor bikes?
Of course. There is no diagnostic port, but compression, spark and fuel delivery are checked exactly the same way. Carburettor cleaning and synchronisation is done here too.
Can I get the diagnosis and repair it elsewhere?
Yes. The verdict is yours and contains everything another mechanic will need.
Can you diagnose it over email?
We will suggest likely directions from your description, but honestly: a diagnosis needs the bike in front of us.
